This creativity can enhance its economic power in the real estate market in Barcelona
Barcelona ranks fourth most creative city in the world according to a survey of a hundred top international professionals carried out by the Barcelona Design Centre. That places it just below San Francisco, London and New York, a great achievement. The survey's participants also affirmed that creativity is one of the big attractions of establishing a business in the city and when business grows so does Barcelona’s housing market.
Creative ecosystem
According to Isabel Roig, the director of the Barcelona Design Centre (BCD), “the companies that want to come and undertake an investment project in Barcelona take into account the creative infrastructure and facilities for connecting with the local networks, creators, creative start-ups and entrepreneurs”. These connections are termed by Ms Roig as “a creative ecosystem”. This creative ecosystem is a driving force for the economy at this time. People want to live in a dynamic, creative city and business and companies realize that they need to be more creative and work with more creative talent to ensure recovery and to be able to move the economy forward.
The survey's results show Barcelona's excellent international position, ahead of capitals such as Berlin, Tokyo, Amsterdam and Paris. And this also means that the business, cultural and creative sector is climbing higher and higher in the rankings. Embracing this creativity is a must for Barcelona on the road to true economic recovery.
